Vacation diaries - Montreal
Hi my loves!
Now, I wish I could explain how ready I was to quit my job a couple of weeks ago. I am not being dramatic guys! I had been working crazy hours, I worked all through Easter weekend and quite frankly, I had had enough. But after a couple of conversations with my parents and some friends, balancing tears and all, I was inspired to push through with a positive attitude.
Thankfully, the next week, my friends and I had planned a cozy getaway to charming Montreal. I've known Mugwe since high school and Nunu (my best friend) since primary school. Somehow, we have become a travelling trio, this being our second mini-vacation together.
Guys, I cannot stress the importance in taking time for yourself to relax and do you. Taking time is important for rest, for recuperating the body and the mind and quite frankly for mental health. Now, my chosen method of taking time for myself is going on a trip. My vacation days are so limited that if I choose to use them, I may as well plan to get out of NYC. This is often a bus-ride to a nearby city, where I can enjoy an inexpensive long weekend at a friend's place. Other times, when I have saved a good amount of money, I plan more extravagant trips with friends and family.
Whatever you decide, be it a monthly spa day, an at-home facial and manicure, a drive upcountry where you can be in nature or a Saturday spent in bed with movies and popcorn, remember that taking time for self-care should be a priority. That way, when you get back to hectic life, you can be productive and ready for the day.
